He was a Klingon warrior rose to general in the Klingon Defense Force and later became high chancellor.
During the Dominion he diplayed brilliant leadership. This made him popular amongst warriors as well as civilians. He was in the House of Mortok and a good friend of Worfs on Deep Space Nine.
He was born in the lowlands of the Ketha province to warrior's. His father hoped he would become an officer.
